Reflections
Are there times when sitting with friends, family or even colleagues, your attention is brought back by the famous one-liner “A penny for your thoughts?” Our minds are known to wander off now and then.
The big question however is, do we miss the present moment, because we are all caught up in our minds? One common cause of not being present is when we start to worry about something. Worry has a way of ruminating and taking all the attention from the moment.
A quick way to assess this…. when was the last time you picked the scent of coffee as you were sipping it away, saw a butterfly as you walked around, heard the hearty laugh of a child, saw a smile on your colleague/friend or stranger’s face as you walked by…….This list could go on and on.
A common phrase i have grown to love is, “Be where your feet are.” This calls for being present, not just physically but in all ways possible. This way, we don’t miss the beauty of life in our day to day activities. There’s a meme that has done its rounds on social media, which reminds us today is a gift, that is why it is called present.
So let’s smell the coffee, see the butterflies, hear the birds chirp……
Remember to keep smiling and be kind always!
